Media Relations Intern

Local media is key to informing the public about issues in the community, and Charlie’s plans to address them. Interns will develop a media strategy and communicate directly with reporters to garner attention for the campaign. Interns will learn about the local news ecosystem, develop media organizing skills, and gain real-world experience under the supervision of an expert in the local media realm.

Start Date: As soon as practicable

End Date: November 8, 2022

Requirements

  • 5 hrs/week average 
  • Maintain weekly meeting schedule with supervisor 
  • In-person work in New Brunswick 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

Responsibilities

  • Work with campaign leadership to identify top opportunities to engage media in the campaign’s activities 
  • Write press statements on behalf of the campaign 
  • Plan and host press events with the candidate 
  • Direct outreach to media contacts about campaign accomplishments and events
