Community Outreach Intern

Having personal, one-on-one conversations with community members is the heart of our grassroots campaign. Interns will help to organize our community outreach efforts, lead a team of volunteers out in the field, and provide residents with opportunities to meaningfully engage with the campaign. Interns will be trained on community outreach skills, messaging, and strategy.

Start Date: As soon as practicable

End Date: November 8, 2022

Requirements

  • 5 hrs/week average 
  • Maintain weekly meeting schedule with supervisor 
  • In-person work in New Brunswick 
  • Strong public speaking and team leadership skills 
  • Preferred: personal vehicle for transportation
  • Preferred: prior experience with door to door canvassing 
  • Preferred: bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English 

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of volunteers in door to door canvassing shifts each week of the campaign 
  • Train new volunteers on public outreach skills and basic campaign messaging 
  • Develop ‘walk lists’ for door to door canvassing each week 
  • Identify existing community events suitable for street canvassing 
  • Work with campaign leadership to create a strategic plan to target voter outreach throughout the life of the campaign
